Hats thrown in ring for April 7 election

The deadline to file as a candidate for the April 7 municipal election has come to an end.

Terms are expiring in city commissions or councils, school boards, the Fort Scott Community College Board of Trustees and the Southwind Extension District board.

While most entity has enough, or nearly enough candidates to complete a ballot, no one has filed for seats on the Fulton or Mapleton city councils.

The following names will be on the April ballot:

Bronson

Mayor and five council members

Alan Stewart, incumbent, mayor

Council candidates: David Wilkins, Joyce Wilkins, Steve LaRue, Geraldine P. Reeder, all incumbents; and Charlotte Stewart.

Fort Scott

Three city commissioners (one two-year term and two four-year terms)

Samuel L. Mason, incumbent; Cynthia E. Bartelsmeyer, incumbent; and James R. Adams.

Fulton

Mayor and five council members

No candidates filed.

Mapleton

Three council members

No candidates filed.

Redfield

Mayor and five council members

Council members: Wilma Graham, Richard A. Smith, Lewis Williams, Troy Johnson, William Roller, all incumbents.

Mayor

Leland D. Feagins, incumbent; Clarence "Ed" Guss; and Ricky Graham.

Uniontown

Mayor and three council members

Larry Jurgensen, incumbent, mayor.

Danea D. Esslinger, incumbent, council member.

Southwind Extension District

Two positions, four-year terms.

Diane Brillhart and Pete Wiley

Fort Scott Community College

Three positions

Robert Nelson, incumbent; Dana Marshall McKenney and Bernita Hill.

Fort Scott School District No. 234

All four-year terms

Jordan Witt, incumbent, at large position; Michelle Hudiburg, incumbent, Position 2; Vanessa Poyner, Position 1; and Janet Braun, incumbent, Position 3.

Uniontown School District No. 235

Each position is a four-year term.

Lynne D. Oharah, incumbent, Position 1; Matthew Simpson, incumbent, Position 3; Jason L. Sutterby, incumbent, Position 2; Terry Nading, at large position; and Sally Johnson, at large position.
