Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Hunter Hawley, 13, an eighth-grader at Fort Scott Middle School participated in wearing boots on Monday for Red Ribbon Week at the school. Monday was "Give drugs the boot" day, when students were encouraged to wear boots. Other themes are: today, "Team up against drugs!" favorite team shirt; Wednesday, "Like, drugs are so not cool" 80s clothing; Thursday, "Say good-night to drugs!" favorite school-appropriate pajama pants; and Friday, "I pinkie-promise not to use drugs!" pink in support of breast cancer awareness, or black to black out drugs. Red Ribbon Week serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities, according to the Red Ribbon website.
