Various city and county officials, as well as Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers, attended a recruitment kickoff for the Bourbon County CERT Thursday evening at the Bourbon County Courthouse. Pictured are (clockwise, from left) CERT volunteers Susan Dubey and Bill Dubey, Fort Scott Fire Chief Paul Ballou, Bourbon County Rural Fire District No. 3 Coordinator Delwin Mumbower, Bourbon County GIS Director Shane Walker, Fort Scott Interim Police Chief Travis Shelton, and CERT team leader Brenda Boehm, who is speaking to the group. The group discussed the purpose of CERT, which serves as support for first responders, and upcoming recruitment events, including a March 14 presentation for the Ministerial Alliance, and a meeting April 3 at a location that has yet to be determined.
